10 Tips To Ensure You Sleep Like A Baby Every Single Night!

Did you sleep well last night? I certainly did not. After tossing and turning in bed for about an hour before finally dosing off and finding myself awake two or three times during the night, I wondered if I was the only one who had difficulties falling asleep and staying asleep.

Sleeping is not just for the lazy. Poor sleep habits – what experts may call “poor sleep hygiene” – may negatively affect everything from a man’s testosterone levels, to a student’s ability to remember anything during an exam.

Surprisingly, inspite of its importance, many people do not get enough sleep. Some miss out because they of the sacrifices that come with one of the worlds top sleep depriving jobs. Many others don’t get enough sleep, or enough quality sleep because they have a bad approach.

Getting That Good Sleep

To boost your sleep quality and quantity each night consider the following tips provided by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) on how to get a good night’s sleep:

  1. Follow a consistent bedtime routine.

  2. Establish a relaxing setting at bedtime.

  3. Get a full night’s sleep every night.

  4. Avoid foods or drinks that contain caffeine, as well as any medicine that has a stimulant, before bedtime.

  5. Do not stay up all hours of the night to “cram” for an exam, do homework, etc. If after-school activities are proving to be too time-consuming, consider cutting back on these activities.

  6. Keep computers and TVs out of the bedroom.

  7. Do not go to bed hungry, but don’t eat a big meal before bedtime either.

  8. Avoid any rigorous exercise within six hours of your bedtime.

  9. Make your bedroom quiet, dark and a bit cool.

  10. Get up at the same time every morning.
